Confused.com reports good news for savvy utility customers

Confused.com has told consumers that there is good news on the horizon for customers who shop around.

Gareth Kloet, head of energy at the comparison site, made his comments following the news that Scottish Power has released the new Online Energy Saver product.

He claimed that the utility giant brought out the payment plan because it started to feel competition from smaller companies such as OVO and First Utility, which he pointed out are offering some of the lowest tariffs on the market.

Mr Kloet added: "This can only be good news to savvy customers willing to shop around to get the best price, but in order for the prices to keep falling, consumers need to keep responding."

This week, E.ON also released a new product called FixOnline 3, but the Scottish Power scheme is still cheaper on average, according to Confused.com.

E.ON recently announced that it will begin charging its cheque and cash-paying customers on a monthly basis, instead of quarterly.
