Isas "definitely worth looking into"

Isas are "definitely worth looking into" because of the way they are protected from tax, an industry expert has observed.

Sharon Bratley, chartered financial planner at fairinvestment.co.uk, pointed out that in a financial climate like the one being experienced at present - with generally low interest rates on savings - it can be a good idea to put money into an Isa.

She stressed that they are not the best way for everybody to save, because each person has their own individual needs, but it is useful to have savings protected from the taxman.

Ms Bratley explained: "They are definitely worth looking into as not only do they have tax perks, but they are versatile too as you can use your Isa allowance in a number of product types."

Her comments were made just days before the Isa allowance is increased for over-50s to £10,200 on October 6th.

The higher allowance was announced in this year's budget by Alistair Darling in April.
