Sainsbury's Finance recommends credit cards with rewards

Sainsbury's Finance has advised customers to check what sort of rewards they receive on their credit cards as well as the interest rate charged.

Stuart McKeggie, head of credit cards at the financial services provider, made his remarks as the company increased its introductory zero per cent interest period from three to ten months on its credit card.

The company also reduced the APR from 16.9 per cent to 15.9 per cent.

Mr McKeggie pointed out that the reduction in the interest charged should give Sainsbury's Finance credit card customers some financial respite in the current economic climate and the Nectar points accrued are an additional positive.

"People should shop around for a card that offers a sustainable reward that is easy to redeem and suits their spending habits," he explained.

Recent research by the company indicated that the proportion of credit cards which offer reward schemes fell by 11 per cent in the year leading up to August.
