Pet insurance no longer a luxury, says Gocompare.com

Lee Griffin, business development director at the comparison website, made his comments following the news that the organisation has launched a pet insurance comparison service.
Mr Griffin pointed out that veterinary bills can sometimes end up running to thousands of pounds, so having your furry companion insured can help your finances as well as your pet's health.
But he remarked that it is vital to know what cover you are getting when you take out a policy.
"Ask yourself what you'd like to be covered by your pet insurance and don't overpay for features that you really don't need. Likewise, don't assume that your pet is covered against all ailments," explained Mr Griffin.
Recent research by M&S Money indicated that in total pet owners in the UK will spend about £1.7 billion on cat and dog food this year.
