Tesco Clubcard credit card receives praise

The Tesco Clubcard credit card has been praised by one sector analyst in recent days.

Ed Bowsher, head of personal finance at lovemoney.com, made his remarks after Tesco announced its interim 2009-10 financial results earlier this month, which showed that the firm is now the UK's seventh-largest credit card issuer.

He stated: "With all your purchases on that card, even if they are not at Tesco, you'll be earning Clubcard points. Even without the Clubcard angle, you can get zero per cent."

Mr Bowsher also noted that when a consumer first opts to use the card, they are able to enjoy an introductory 12-month period where they pay zero per cent interest on their purchases.

He said that even after the opening period expires, customers are still able to accrue Tesco Clubcard points on all of their purchases made with the card, even those that are not made in Tesco stores.
