Which? says banking customers are angry

Which? has reported that consumers are still annoyed with banks a year after some of them were bailed out by the government.

Head of campaigns at the company Louise Hanson has pointed out that it would be better if financial institutions apologised to their customers.

She made her comments following the launch of Which?'s Britain Needs Better Banks drive, with its research showing that three out of five people do not think banks have learnt anything from the financial crisis.

Ms Hanson highlighted poor customer service and the nature of some of their sales tactics as grating points for many people.

"It's not going to be easy for the banks to regain the public's trust, but a good start would be for them to say sorry - and mean it," she added.

Last week, the organisation called for the Financial Services Authority to ensure that Mortgage Payment Protection Insurance gives refunds to all its customers, following complaints about contract changes.
