Post Office advises buying travel insurance early

The Post Office has informed its customers that it pays to prepare in advance when going on half-term holidays.

Sarah Munro, head of travel services at the company, pointed out that it can be stressful if travellers leave things until the last minute.

She advised people to exchange foreign currency early in order to obtain the most competitive rates.

It is also essential that people do not wait until the 11th hour to take out travel insurance, since it is vital to be covered in case of an emergency when going abroad, according to Ms Munro.

"With the half-term holiday looming it's a great time to escape for a relaxing break, but those who leave their planning to the last minute are creating stress for themselves," she added.

This week, the Post Office launched an extended mortgage range, which includes a base rate tracker deal and fixed-rate products on two, three and five-year terms.
