Saga Home Insurance advises customers to avoid rust

Saga Home Insurance has advised consumers to put their garden tools away after using them, to protect them from winter rust.

Andrew Goodsell, executive chairman of the Saga Group, made his comments following research by the financial services provider, which indicated that 26 per cent of the population do not put gardening equipment away during the wetter months of the year.

He pointed out that people can end up paying a lot of money to buy replacements for garden tools and furniture.

Mr Goodsell explained: "It may not have been the barbeque summer we were all hoping for, but leaving the barbeque out to rust during winter will mean paying out to replace it."

As a country that cares for our gardens, it is essential we look after the things that we keep in these green spaces, he added.

The end of British Summer Time is coming up on October 25th, when the clocks go back one hour.
