Keep gardens secure, says Saga

Saga has offered consumers a set of tips to keep their garden tools safe and sound this winter, so that they do not have to shell out for replacements in spring.

The over-50s financial services provider has advised people to make an inventory of the tools and furniture they have and take photographs of valuable items.

Padlocks and fastenings on sheds and gates should be checked, in order for people to be aware if they need to make any repairs.

Executive chairman of the Saga Group Andrew Goodsell pointed out that items can often get stolen from unsecured sheds.

He added: "By taking a few simple steps to protect their plants and possessions, garden-owners can potentially save themselves hundreds of pounds."

It is also a good idea to check that your home insurance policy is adequate for the cover you need, added Mr Goodsell.

Saga recently announced the launch of motorcycle insurance for the over-50s.
