Admiral says female driver stereotypes are "outdated"

Admiral has said that old-fashioned stereotypes surrounding women and cars are dead and buried, with a new generation of ladies coming to the fore.

In research carried out by Admiral's specialist women's car insurance provider Diamond, it was found that 44 per cent of women discuss their motors with their friends and less than three per cent would pick a car based on its colour.

Sian Lewis, managing director of Diamond, claimed that modern women are making informed choices about which car they buy.

She also noted that female drivers will go all out to look after their vehicle.

"Our research shows many of the stereotypes you hear about women drivers are very much outdated and untrue," said Ms Lewis.

Last week, Admiral reported that many people are putting themselves at risk if they get behind the wheel when they are stressed.

It found that 45 per cent of drivers are more likely to lose concentration when they are anxious.
