Financial concerns 'increasing among consumers'

The amount of people who feel worried about the state of their finances is growing, according to Credit Action.

Chris Tapp, director of the national money education charity, said the body is seeing a rising number of people who are anxious about their present financial situation, with people who have lost their job or are worried about being made redundant feeling most troubled about the future.

He continued by stating that this is having a knock-on effect to those people who are not yet in fiscal difficulties, with many not aware of the level of free and independent support that is available to them, regardless of their present situation.

Mr Tapp added that money concerns cause damage to more than just people's bank accounts, stating that: "It affects people's emotional wellbeing, it affects people's relationships, it affects people's health."

The comments were made after CreditExpert identified the creation of 'Recession Strain Injury', caused by people who are seeking help for stress related injuries caused by the recession.
