Sainsbury's credit card 'offers alternative rewards'

Sainsbury's has highlighted the fact that its credit cards offer alternative rewards to standard products.

The supermarket chain cited research conducted by Defaqto, which showed that only 13 credit cards in the UK still offer cash back on spending.

It advised people to consider the Sainsbury's product, which offers a cash back equivalent of two per cent on purchases made in the stores in the form of Nectar Points.

Furthermore, it pointed out that shoppers can redeem these points in store or with Nectar. In addition, they will gain double Nectar points on their shopping in Sainsbury's outlets.

Stuart McKeggie, head of Sainsbury's credit cards, said: "The number of credit cards offering cash back has fallen but there are cards out there offering great reward alternatives."

He suggested that people shop around for the right plastic to suit their needs.

Earlier this year, the retailer announced that people taking out selected finance products would receive double Nectar points on Sainsbury's purchases for two years.
