Sainsbury's: Fewer people plan to buy second-hand cars

It is estimated that 3.7 million people intend to buy a used car before the end of February 2010, a number constituting eight per cent of British adults.
This is an 18 per cent decrease in the 4.5 million who planned on buying used car in the six months between March and August 2009.
Steven Baillie, head of Sainsbury's Loans, said that the scrappage scheme had led to many people choosing to buy a new car instead of a used one.
However, for those who are looking to buy a pre-owned vehicle, he said: "Buyers should remember to haggle, which can save them hundreds or even thousands of pounds."
Saving money on driving could be important for motorists, as Sainsbury's Finance reported last month that the cost of motoring had risen by 2.68 per cent in the last year.
