Brits admit to bad tempers while shopping

British shoppers have admitted they can lose their tempers while out Christmas shopping, according to swiftcover.com.

The insurance provider has estimated that as many as 21 million people in the UK have shouted or verbally abused fellow consumers or shop assistants while out on the high street.

Waiting in long queues at tills is the main source of frustration for those surveyed, with 47 per cent saying this has pushed them into losing their tempers in the past.

A further 43 per cent said that rude or uncaring staff is the thing that makes their blood boil when out shopping.

To avoid getting hot under the collar, swiftcover.com advised consumers to head out early to beat the rush, or try late-night shopping when there will be fewer people around.

Or, for the web-savvy, try shopping online for Christmas gifts to escape the long queues and bad weather.

Consumers are not the only ones who lose their tempers. According to research by swiftcover.com from earlier this year, drivers with car ornaments are more likely to suffer from road rage, which could lead to claims on their car insurance.
