Motorists reminded of drink-drive risks

Motorists heading out parties over the festive season have been reminded of the risks that are involved with drink-driving by moneysupermarket.com.

After analysing over three million insurance quotes for drivers with drink-driving convictions, the price comparison site found that men in their 30s living in central London were the most likely to have a conviction for driving under the influence.

It was also found that a DR10 conviction could add up to 75 per cent onto the cost of an annual premium.

Steve Sweeney, head of motor insurance at moneysupermarket.com, said: "The rules of the road are there for a reason; motorists who get in a car having consumed alcohol will find that their reaction times, coordination and judgment will be impaired."

Getting the right home contents insurance is vital at this time of year, according to moneysupermarket.com, as expensive gifts could drastically increase the value of the contents, but some policies will not provide extra cover for them.
