Cold weather advice from More Than

Keep safe and warm in the cold weather, with advice offered by More Than.

Leaving central heating on at a constant temperature while away from the property helps to stop the system from freezing over.

Check that pipes and boilers are properly covered in lagging to prevent them from bursting.

For cars, ensuring that anti-freeze is at the correct levels is vital, as well as carrying de-icer in case locks freeze over.

Keep a warm blanket and some snacks in the car in case it breaks down during cold weather.

Pete Markey, a spokesperson for More Than, said: "We are prepared for the expected cold front next week with many of our staff ready to help out in the affected areas."

If there is a car accident in the icy conditions, More Than has launched an iPhone application to assist motorists at the scene of a crash. It is free to download and offers guidance to drivers on what to do if they have had an accident.
