East Midlands property market 'increases 300%'

The property market in the east midlands has grown by as much as 300 per cent in a year, according to The Nottingham Building Society.

It has also been predicted by the institution that the property market in the region is set to continue growing into next year.

In November, the number of completed sales was up 300 per cent on the same time in 2008 and 28.33 per cent on the previous month.

"The second half of the year has seen a welcome resurgence in the property market, with all areas of Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire and Lincolnshire reporting improved sales and increased demand," said Graham Lang, Nottingham Property Services operations manager.

Potential house buyers may have acted on the advice the building society provided last month to act quickly if they were considering taking out a mortgage in order to beat the increases in stamp duty on January 1st.
