Online shopping tips from PayPal

Shoppers looking to bag a bargain during the January sales should think of going online to beat the rush, according to PayPal.

Choosing to shop online instead of heading to the high street means that the best bargains can often be picked up, as many sales will begin online before the are introduced in the stores' branches.

Shopping online can be as safe as it is convenient by using PayPal to pay for items. Buying now means that consumers will beat the VAT increase, which is due to take place on January 1st.

Cameron McLean, general manager for PayPal Merchant Services in the UK, said: With hundreds of top retailers starting their online sales early and the temperatures dropping, we expect even more shoppers than usual to head online to pick up a sale bargain."

Reaseach by the online payment group found earlier this month that residents of large cities are increasingly logging on to do their shopping, with 41 per cent admitting they have started to buy more over the internet in the last 12 months.
