Lloyds TSB offers financial advice for 2010

Lloyds TSB has advised consumers to plan ahead what they will spend in the new year to keep their finances in good shape.

According to the company, creating a budget is a good way to make sure spending does not get out of hand. Customers of the bank can head in store to receive professional advice on how to make their money go further.

Opening up a savings account with a good rate of interest is one way of making sure that a consumer's money is working as hard as they are.

Peter Jackson, managing director of consumer banking with Lloyds Banking Group, said: "Making a resolution to tackle your finances is one of the simplest but potentially most rewarding things you can do in the new year."

Making sure that banking details are kept safe is another important resolution to make, following the research carried out by Lloyds TSB, which found that 76 per cent of British adults are concerned about ID theft.
