Confused.com comments on Zurich insurance increase

A 20 per cent increase in the premiums on car insurance from Zurich has not come as a surprise, according to confused.com.

Head of motor at the price comparison site Will Thomas said that he was not shocked by the substantial increase in the cost and that the question is now which provider will be the next to follow suit.

He blamed factors such as the year-on-year increase in personal injury claims for the rise in prices.

Confused.com advised consumers to shop around for the best price on car insurance and not to automatically renew their policy each year as they could save by comparing the other options available to them.

Following the adverse weather conditions of recent weeks, motorists were advised by confused.com to make sure they have adequate breakdown cover, as not having proper insurance could result in expensive roadside repairs.
