Nottingham launches 5% fixed-rate saver

A new saving account, which offers a rate of five per cent, is being launched by the Nottingham Building Society.

The Fixed-Rate Regular Saver is guaranteed to give a five per cent return until February 2011.

Available with a starting deposit of just £10, it is open to anyone over the age of 16, making it a good place for people to start building up a nest egg for the future.

There is a maximum limit of £100 a month which can be invested, although holders are permitted to skip payments without penalty.

Clare Roberts, spokesperson for the Nottingham, said: "As well as providing flexibility it also offers a very attractive rate of interest, that's guaranteed."

Individuals living in the building society's heartland of the east Midlands were offered the opportunity in November of attending seminars run by the company to help them to plan their future savings.
