Bright Grey critical illness pays out 93%

Bright Grey has paid out 93 per cent of claims on its critical illness cover in the last year, the institution has announced.

Only two per cent of claims made were declined for non-disclosure and the average pay-out was almost £80,000.

Roger Edwards, proposition director at Bright Grey, said: "It's very pleasing to see such a high claims paid figure, which helps generate a massive confidence in Bright Grey with advisers and their clients."

People who take out a policy with Bright Grey also receive help from Red Arc nurses at the time of their payout, with many of the 97 per cent who opt to receive the service stating that it was as useful to them as getting the cash.

At the start of the year, the insurance firm stated that around £2 billion would be wasted on purchases in the January sales that consumers later decided that they did not want.
