AA card purchases available at 0%

Mark Huggins, director of the organisation, suggested the offer would help people to buy a new car and also take part in the government scrappage system which ends this month.

He said: "But even if you don't have enough put away to splash out on a car, and you are disciplined about paying off the balance, using an AA Credit Card offers a low-cost opportunity to pay for at least part of the cost."

New cards bought through major comparison websites, such as moneysupermarket.com, will be applicable for this scheme, with the cards having a typical variable rate of 16.9 per cent APR.

The scrappage policy has run since April 2009 and nearly 400,000 cars over ten years old have been replaced by more environmentally-friendly versions.

In addition, the card was recently extended to other comparison websites and was awarded a four-star rating by Moneyfacts.
