Alison Patrick, head of travel at the firm, stressed that insurance policies cannot prevent accidents or crimes happening, but she noted that they can make the financial consequences much easier to handle.
The organisation estimated that about 20,000 England fans will be flying over to the African nation to attend the footballing event and recommended that they avoid carrying large quantities of cash or valuables with them when they are out and about.
"Every year we see lives ruined by holiday misadventures with the worst of these costing hundreds of thousands of pounds," added Ms Patrick.
Research published by Axa Wealth last week suggests that holidays are one of the most important aspects of retirement for people in the babyboomer generation.
