Consumers value personal finance advice, says Unbiased.co.uk

The public appreciates expert advice when it comes to planning their personal finances, one website has suggested.

Karen Barrett, Unbiased.co.uk's chief executive, claimed "consumers continue to see the value" of specialist guidance as her company published its latest Advice Drivers report.

Personal retirement planning was found to be the number one driver in March, accounting for 36 per cent of searches on the website's 'find an IFA' service, ahead of investment and savings (29 per cent) and mortgages (ten per cent).

Commenting on the statistics, Ms Barrett indicated that they show expert advice is particularly valued by people who are "embarking on complex and long-term financial decisions".

Further figures from the company this month revealed a significant fall in savings levels and a rise in borrowing.

Ms Barrett said it was vital that individuals sought out recommendations when making such decisions so that they can determine the best way to balance their finances.
