NAEA says housing market is on the up

The National Association of Estate Agents (NAEA) has suggested that the housing market is moving in the right direction after releasing figures covering March of this year.

Some of the highlights of the organisation's Housing Market Report March 2010 include an increase from 258 house-hunters per branch in February to 274 in March, with the average number of sales agreed per branch going up from 6.8 to eight during the same time period.

The NAEA pointed out that the number of properties available is the highest in six months, according to its figures.

It stated: "March has been an encouraging month for the property market with a positive number of buyers looking to sell their home."

One factor that the industry body expects to have an impact on the number of people buying and selling property is the extension of the stamp duty threshold, which comes into effect this month.

At the beginning of April, the NAEA suggested that more people are now looking for larger homes, which is a positive indicator in the housing market.
