Lloyds TSB Insurance says it will waive excess for victims of crime

People who have been the victims of a crime, such as vandalism, will not have to pay the excess on their Lloyds TSB Home Solutions insurance policy, the organisation has revealed.

Paula Llewellyn, a spokesperson for the firm, explained that the company has made this decision so that customers can rest assured they will not be left with heavy costs to pay if something happens to their property.

A recent study developed by Lloyds TSB Insurance found that actions by neighbours nationally account for £2.5 billion in repairs that homeowners must carry out in a year.

Ms Llewellyn noted that not everyone can have the perfect neighbours and this excess waiver aims to resolve this.

"Good neighbours can have an invaluable impact on our wellbeing and can help keep our property safe while away from home," she added.

One reason why people may have been away from their house recently is the disruption caused by the volcanic ash cloud, with Lloyds TSB offering to provide extra support in exceptional circumstances to customers with the organisation's travel policy.
