Aviva insurance strategy 'saves time and money'

A new strategy being employed by Aviva insurance is speeding up the process of getting cover, according to a representative from the organisation.

Richard Verdin, protection director at the firm, claimed that the Improving Customer Underwriting project has allowed the company to develop its procedures in the best interests of customers and advisors.

He made his comments after Aviva insurance revealed that the number of doctor reports requested has fallen by 60 per cent thanks to the initiative, which sees nurses and underwriters speaking to clients to ascertain key medical information.

"One of the main delays experienced when setting up life insurance policies is gaining evidence from a customer's doctor, which in a large number of cases doesn't even change the underwriting decision," explained Mr Verdin.

The Aviva insurance spokesperson stressed any risks associated with the policy have been managed effectively.

This week, the firm urged customers to take note of its Simple Safety campaign, which is aiming to reduce the number of slips and trips that occur in public.
