Fair Investment Company banking customers 'currently risk averse'

There is a trend appearing in which banking customers are much more cautious about risk, according to Fair Investment Company.

Head of pensions and investments at the firm Nick Scarrett explained that individuals have a more "realistic" approach to what sort of return they can get on the capital.

The finance expert made his comments following the publication of research by Fair Investment Company, which indicated that 61 per cent of investors see safety as the most important factor in financial arrangements.

Mr Scarrett remarked: "With rates so low and the differences between rates so small, investors who have their money with a safe institution are not going to move their money to somewhere less safe."

He suggested that people just want to receive secure returns that are higher than the rate of inflation, with less emphasis on market-leading interest rates.

This month, Fair Investment Company revealed that it has partnered with uSwitch.com to offer a new investment comparison service.
