F&C Investments issues call to action to government

The government needs to act decisively as soon as possible to ensure that the UK does not follow Greece into a serious financial crisis, according to F&C Investments.

Ted Scott, director of UK strategy at the financial organisation, highlighted how Great Britain has already been warned by rating agencies that it is in danger of losing its AAA status.

He stated that the government needs to avoid "dithering", as this has made the situation worse in the Eurozone.

Mr Scott remarked: "It is vital the leaders of the parties get together soon to sort out an administration that can act with authority and decisively."

In his view, the hung parliament is the result that the markets did not want in the UK general election, but that is what has happened and it has raised the level of uncertainty in the country.

Liberal Democrat leader Nick Clegg is understood to have set himself the deadline of the end of today (May 10th) to decide if his party will form a coalition with Labour or the Conservatives.
