Confused.com: Insurance should not be overlooked

People should not overlook the need to purchase insurance when they go abroad, a representative from Confused.com has suggested.

Steve Williams, head of travel insurance at the price comparison site, made his comments after the company found that seven per cent of respondents to a poll still intend to go on holiday without a policy covering unexpected incidents.

He described it as a "concern" that some individuals feel this way, despite all the delays that a certain natural disaster has caused, as well as problems resulting in strikes by British Airways.

Mr Williams commented: "Travel insurance covers eventualities including delays and cancelled holidays and insurers are still offering cover for holidays affected by the ash cloud."

Research by Confused.com insurance also showed that 25 per cent of people are less confident about booking vacations abroad due to travel issues.

Another incident that the firm recently highlighted as causing unease is the situation in Bangkok, where protests are occurring against the government.
