The speed and flexibility of assistance provided by the new Co-operative Insurance Breakdown Cover make it an attractive product, a representative from the firm has claimed.

David Neave, business leader at the Co-operative Insurance, stated that the policy allows drivers to create a product that best suits their needs.

It offers four levels of protection - roadside, recovery, recovery and homestart, and European - and motorists can cover themselves and their family for shorter periods of time if they want to.

Mr Neave suggested that some breakdown companies may be stretched as a result of a "historically busy motoring period" just around the corner, making this new product attractive in terms of the swift assistance it could offer.

"The new Co-operative Insurance Breakdown Cover offers drivers a greater level of flexibility than has been previously offered, allowing customers to develop a tailor made breakdown product," he noted.

Last week, the firm revealed its current account customers will benefit from a 20 per cent discount on home insurance for the first year.
