People services manager Ceri Assiratti pointed out that car insurance is a compulsory purchase, so the difficult economic climate has not impacted the business as significantly as many other sectors.
She made her comments following the news that Admiral insurance - which incorporates Elephant, Diamond and Confused.com within its stable - unveiled recruitment figures.
They showed the firm has hired 490 people so far in 2010 and is set to appoint another 261 by the end of June.
Ms Assiratti said: "We're delighted to be bucking the trend and are able to take on so many new members of staff in a difficult time."
Last month, the company revealed UK motorists drive an average of 7,755 miles each year, with this mileage increasing by 4.5 per cent since 2000.
