Co-operative Bank funds 'overlooked' renewable energy projects

Richard Wilcox, head of renewables at the firm, explained how green energy is becoming more attractive as a result of government incentive programmes and such investment is needed for the country to achieve its carbon-reduction targets.
In his view, a low-carbon economy will not be achieved by relying on major projects and smaller ones must be encouraged too.
These remarks follow the news that the Co-operative Bank has committed to lending £200 million to organisations in the renewable energy sector this year.
Mr Wilcox explained: "We are delighted to provide this commitment to funding renewable energy projects, particularly those of small to medium size where the Bank has built specialist expertise."
Earlier this year, a representative from the Co-operative's Asset Management arm predicted renewable energy will be an area of growth in the UK economy.
