Santander Mortgages highlights home expansion trend

Director of mortgages at the firm Phil Cliff made his remarks regarding research by the organisation, which showed more than one in ten people have converted their garage or intend to do so in the future.
He suggested the traditional garage is dying out, with people deciding they would prefer to have a new lounge, utility room, games room or office.
Mr Cliff explained: "For many homeowners maximising their current space is a far more affordable and convenient option than moving home."
In his view, this is a logical decision, since cars are more robust nowadays and it takes a "modest investment" to convert the space into something more appropriate.
This month, Santander revealed Brits spend about £10.45 billion on attending weddings in the UK, with the average event costing guests £380.
