M&S Money suggests checking cover after 'kitting out' garden

People may be considering purchasing new furniture and other expensive items for their garden to enjoy over summer, but Marks & Spencer (M&S) Money has issued a note of caution.

Head of general insurance at the firm Andrew Ferguson highlighted how many pricier products may not be included within a home insurance policy, which is something individuals should check.

He said: "As the weather improves and events such as Wimbledon approach, many people will be looking to kit out their gardens for the party season with new furniture and plants."

These remarks follow research by M&S Money, which showed the average garden in the UK features a range of plants and other greenery worth up to £721.

Last month, the firm highlighted the importance of checking insurance policies before carrying out DIY projects, so that individuals know whether they are covered in case of an accident, such as spilt paint or something more costly.
