Santander mortgages 'highlights increase in market share'

More consumers are choosing to take out Santander Mortgages, according to a representative for the company, who suggested this is cementing the group's place as a strong lender.

Phil Cliff, director of mortgages at the firm, stated the organisation lent one in five home loans during the first quarter of the year and have focused on providing a rich variety of products to suit different individuals.

He remarked: "Santander prides itself on being the 'Home of UK Mortgages' and is always looking at different ways in which we can help all homebuyers."

These comments were made after Santander mortgages found 31 per cent of adults in the UK live in the town where they grew up, with people in Northern Ireland proving to be the most loyal as 61 per cent of individuals settle down near their original home.

Last week, the firm revealed one in ten homeowners in Britain have converted their garage for another purpose or intend to do so soon.
