FIM investments highlights forestry opportunity

There is an attractive investment opportunity open to people who are willing to put their money into forestry in Scotland, a spokesperson from FIM has suggested.

Richard Crosbie Dawson, managing director of the firm, explained that the Scottish Rural Development Plan is aiming to expand forestry activity in the country and this is providing investors with a long-term, tax-free finance option.

He explained: "The grants provide an attractive income profile for 10 years as the crop is established and allows low productive, marginal land to be converted into highly productive forests."

Mr Crosbie Dawson noted there may be further opportunities for investors to put money into commercial forests, which makes the upcoming year exciting for FIM.

This month, the organisation announced the acquisition of Darracott Moor wind farm site, which FIM intends to use to install turbines with a capacity for 2.55 MW, with Co-operative Bank set to provide a 15-year loan to fund the project.
