Confused.com insurance offers cost-cutting tips for motoring

Drivers could cut the cost of driving by following a number of tips provided by a Confused.com insurance representative.

Will Thomas, head of motor insurance at the company, suggested people can keep down the cost of their insurance by avoiding making modifications to their cars and taking a Pass Plus driving course.

He stated: "News that petrol costs are starting to decrease will come as a welcome relief to motorists who are already overstretched keeping their cars on the road."

In his view, motorists could also save money by considering taking out a TPFT policy if a car has a very low value.

In terms of saving money on petrol costs, Mr Thomas advised removing any unnecessary weight from the car and taking off unused roof racks, since this will make the car lighter and more aerodynamic, which makes means less power is required to move it.

He also recently suggested that new drivers can save money on insurance by purchasing a car with a small engine.
