Axa Insurance highlights World Cup risks

One in 18 people heading to the Fifa World Cup in South Africa this summer could find themselves in a position in which they could claim on their Axa Insurance policy, it has been suggested.

Head of travel at the financial services provider Alison Patrick made this prediction after the organisation released a set of tips for staying safe at the sporting event.

Some of the advice offered included being wary of pickpockets in large crowds, keeping match tickets with you and being aware of potential health issues in the African nation.

Ms Patrick remarked: "It is really important people understand the risks and that they mitigate those risks by being sensible while they're away and taking out some insurance before they go."

Last month, Axa Insurance revealed many people are unaware of the driving regulations that apply abroad and may find themselves fined or even arrested for breaking the rules.
