Breakdown cover essential, says moneysupermarket.com

Festival-goers have been advised by moneysupermarket.com insurance to check they have breakdown cover before heading to an event.

Julie Owens, head of home insurance at the firm, suggested drivers should have a look at their policies so that they know what they are covered for.

"Motor breakdown cover can prove an essential add-on for any motorist - the last thing you need when you are off to enjoy a weekend of fun is to be stuck at the side of the road," she explained.

Her comments were made as the firm released a set of tips on what not to do if people are going to a festival, which included taking expensive jewellery and sliding around in the mud.

Some of the festivals due to take place in the UK this summer include Glastonbury, T in the Park, Beatherder, Bestival and Leeds and Reading Festivals.

Breakdown cover can often be purchased for under £30, according to moneysupermarket.com.
