World Cup could signal more breakages, says Aviva insurance

Aviva insurance has highlighted the prospect of people experiencing broken windows due to youngsters playing football during the Fifa World Cup, but suggested it is a good thing that the tournament is inspiring them to play outdoors.

Rob Townend, director of property claims at the firm, noted that having an Aviva home insurance policy will cover homeowners in case of accidental damage.

But he suggested it may still be a good idea to ask children to kick the ball away from the house and towards a park or garden.

Mr Townend added: "It's great that famous sporting events inspire youngsters - and possibly some over enthusiastic parents - to get out in the garden and knock a few balls around."

This week, Aviva noted that businesses should be careful over the summer to ensure they are preventing temporary workers from suffering accidents.
