Colin Greenhill, head of the firm, noted individuals' home furnishings could be ruined by fans getting over-excited during the football contest taking place in South Africa from Friday (June 11th).
Research by Santander Insurance UK indicated that 22 per cent of households have experienced a spillage of some kind during a sporting event, with the average cost of calling in professional cleaners standing at £155.
"All I can suggest is that people make sure they have the peace of mind that their home insurance will cover them in case of an irreparable accident," remarked Mr Greenhill.
The tournament kicks off with hosts South Africa taking on Mexico in Johannesburg, while England line up for their first game against USA on Saturday June 12th in Rustenburg.
