Santander one-year fixed-rate bond 'maximises returns'

Santander has unveiled a new one-year fixed-rate bond for investors seeking a "competitive return".

Designed for customers bringing in money from outside the bank, the limited edition 'best buy' product offers a gross AER of up to 3.01 per cent if investors leave their money untouched for the full term.

"This latest one-year offering will help savers to maximise returns without the need to lock their money away for the long term," said Reza Attar-Zadeh, Santander's director of savings and investments.

He added that investors should "act fast to secure these great rates", as the offer is due to end on June 30th and could be withdrawn even earlier.

Research published by Santander earlier this month revealed that the average Briton currently puts £116 aside in savings each month.

People between the ages of 18 and 34 where shown to save 16 per cent more than the national average, banking £134 on a monthly basis.
