HSBC Commercial Banking 'highlights impact of the East'

The Middle East and Asia are the brightest prospects on the global stage, according to a spokesperson from HSBC Commercial Banking.

Noel Quinn, group general manager at the firm, explained that British businesses must comprehend this "fundamental and fast-paced change" and make sure they respond in an effective manner.

He remarked: "The UK is no longer looking at when West meets East, but at how the East will redefine the West and the way we do business."

Mr Quinn's comments follow the publication of a report by finance experts from HSBC Commercial Banking entitled Looking East: The Changing Face of World Business.

This document revealed that 14 per cent of companies in the UK are looking at the opportunities offered by growth in the Middle East and Asia.

Last year, the same organisation released its Going International report, which indicated that 38 per cent of firms in the country are considering global trade in order to help their business survive.
