New AEGON Ireland funds 'offer protection'

Six new AEGON Ireland funds have been launched by the financial services provider.

The funds have capital protection in the form of Constant Proportion Portfolio Insurance, with at least 80 per cent of the total always covered.

Depending on circumstances, the equity and cash balance changes to help protect the investment.

Spokesperson David Aaron explained that people who are close to drawing their pensions are anxious about having a great deal of money in equities and said that the funds give "a degree of certainty".

The funds are available for global equity markets, as well as options in Asia, Japan, the UK, Europe and North America.

AEGON recently spoke in favour of the workplace pensions automatic enrolment review being carried out by the new government.

It had already called for such action, warning that people could be suffering from being means tested after they finish their working lives.

A spokesperson called for vulnerable people not to be automatically enrolled and instead have to opt in.
