The term - which describes the financial stress experienced by people - was coined by mental health expert Dr Roger Henderson, who recently suggested that the disorder can be felt by all socio-economic groups.
"For some people it may be the issue of making ends meet that is the problem, but for others symptoms emerge from worrying about how to maintain a lifestyle," he explained.
Axa insurance head of psychological health and wellbeing Eugene Farrell highlighted how financial worries can take their toll on people's mental and physical health.
He stressed how important it is for individuals to seek help if they are having money issues.
Last month, the firm revealed that it has agreed to sell its UK-based life and pensions businesses, corporate pensions, annuity organisations and IFA protection firms to Resolution.
