M&S Travel Money applauds consumer behaviour

Holidaymakers have been praised by M&S Travel Money for taking the opportunity to change their money before they get to the airport.

Research by the firm indicates that the majority of people buy their foreign currency about ten days before going abroad and yesterday (July 14th) may well have been one of the most popular days of the summer to carry out such transactions.

James Yerkess, head of M&S Travel Money, explained that customers who head to one of his firm's branches or go online will receive the same rates, which can sometimes not be the case with other providers.

But he was full of praise for consumers for planning ahead, suggesting they are more likely to get a good deal by heading to the high street than waiting until they are in a foreign country.

"It's encouraging that so many holidaymakers are buying their travel money in advance, as it's always a good idea to buy before you fly," said Mr Yerkess.

Last month, the same firm claimed some other currency exchange offices will change their rates depending on where their branch is situated.
