Energy expert at the firm Emma Bush made her comments after research by the organisation showed that the annual cost of an online plan reached £900.
She said: "Online plans are always competitive, but they have represented particularly good value over the last 10 months after the average price fell below £1,000 in September last year."
However, she noted that such products are subject to market volatility, so prices can be more easily affected by wholesale costs.
But she had good news for online plan customers, since they are still saving about £294 a year on average compared to certain standard tariffs.
Last week, uSwitch.com energy called for clarity over the environmental taxes that could begin to form a greater part of consumers' bills.
