Barclays Wealth banking claims investors are broadening their horizons

Although there has been plenty of trading of BP shares, investors continue to look for new opportunities in the market, according to on Barclays Wealth banking expert.

Paul Inkster, head of product at Barclays Stockbrokers, explained that some people are taking a more cautious approach to their investments, but there has still been plenty of trading going on.

He suggested that people are broadening their horizons to look for new profitable trades, with many keeping faith in the FTSE index for the next quarter.

However, Mr Inkster noted: "Trading in BP continues to dominate and 16 per cent of all trades executed by Barclays Stockbrokers clients on July 19th were in BP."

The Barclays Wealth banking spokesperson also highlighted the emergence of video search engine Blinkx and oil explorer Petro Matad as companies that are being traded a lot.

Last week, the same company revealed that the progress BP made with its cap on the leak in the Gulf of Mexico helped the firm to recover some of its share price.
